From what I’ve heard, there are a few main purposes for about pages. They are as follows:
- To help people get to know you better.
- To establish your authority on a particular subject.
- To keep people from thinking you’re dumb for not having one.
I believe that for me personally, #3 was the biggest motivator, but since #1 and #2 are good too, I guess I’ll try this.
My name is Galen Gidman (you probably guessed that already) and I’m a web designer. I have extensive experience with WordPress, Tumblr, HTML5, CSS3, responsive design and have dabbled a bit in jQuery. I’m passionate about doing stuff right, helping others and crafting things that will stand the test of time. You should hire me.
When I’m not at the computer, I enjoy playing and recording music, watching sports and and spending time with my family. Playing touch football also occupies a surprisingly large amount of my time.
Elsewhere
I’m a social kind of guy. When I’m not here you can often finding me tweeting away @galengidman, posting designs on Dribbble and Forrst, collecting the web on Gimmebar or publishing small bits of code on GitHub. Pretty much, you should just follow me everywhere.
Experiments
Sometimes I do little projects for the fun of it. Here’s a short list of my favorites.
